Your imagination may see this as a caravan starting off on a trade route. In fact, it's tourists out for an evening camel ride in the Erg Chebbi dunes. (Well, so were we, but we were off to spend the night in the desert.) These dunes, at the edge of the Sahara, are the highest in Morocco.

Technical: The sky was duller than it should have been (in my opinion), so I selected for it and fiddled with the color until it looked more like I remember. Slight lowering of the Curves to emphasize the closeness to sunset.

Daniel,
It's a classic dunescape with camels and temporary nomads! And a magnificent dunescape it is, with justenough light and shade to pick out the forms. As you say, very much an early evening mood, so you've probably judgement your sky adjustment well.

This landscape is amazing. I imagine walking for such long distances with nothing but sand dunes in view. Beautiful composition with the contours of the dunes creating a nice pattern on the sand. The image is a bit dark but overall beautifully composed. Thanks Dan.

The late light is certainly the best time to capture all the contrasts of the in the contours of the dunes. It would still be good without the "caravan" but that adds a wonderful extra element of interest, complete with long shadows. Well done

Nice, smooth texture of the sand dunes blinding with shadows looks great. The caravan complements the photo as the main element.

great textures and shadowplay, such a "simple" landscape, yet so amazing!
It'd be a fine shot also without it, but obviously the caravan really makes the difference.

Hello Daniel,
the beautiful game between curves and shadows enhance a lot the compo, wich is beautiful and works very well with the little caravan perfectly placed in the frame and giving sense of scale. I also like the great feeling of peace and silence you managed to bring in here and the excellent overall quality. I like this shot a lot.
