Photographer’s Note

the fulani are pastoralists, often in conflict locals when their grazing cattle encroach on the locals' fields.

This is Maryam. She is giving me directions, and actually spoke passable broken english. She is from a grass hut fulani village near the local federal army barracks outside Big Elele on the East-West road.

I like her tattoos, but i wouldn't do it myself.

It was a heavily overcast day and the unedited image was very dull and low contrast.
