Photographer’s Note

The coconut tree grows in rainforests and other tropical of climates.
The tall trees grow to be 50-80 feet.
Coconuts have supplied some families from the Atlantic to the Pacific with shelter, food, drinks, and many of their other needs. The roots supplies's a dye and the trunks are used to stabilize buildings. The hard outside is cut into slices of wood called Porcupine wood. The white meat of the coconut is eaten. They get coconut cream by sifting the white meat till it turns soft and creamy. They use the liquid for a nice refreshing drink. The sap from unopened clusters of flowers is used to make sugar, vinegar, and the alcoholic beverage.

Here in this picture the man is chopping the tree trunk of about 50 ft in half, which means its coming to an end. I was watching him while something fell to the ground from his hand and trying to go back down and pick it up, here i took the opportunity to ask him some questions..

Q. Why are you cutting the tree down ? …He replied

A. Well, its an old tree now

Q. It is true that it is an old tree, but you are still benefiting from it, so i don’t think you should.

A. You are right, but i’m a poor man i can’t afford buying timbers and i need the trunk to use it as a base in my new house that i am constructing, and chopping down one tall tree out of hundreds around this area doesn’t make any difference.

This is the way it ends up and finally the tree
was down.
