I guess this is an unusual picture for TE and it may not appeal to many. It was taken while I was on assignment to South Africa in 1990, when apartheid was starting to crumble and sinister forces tried desperately to prevent the democratization by attacking ANC sympathizers.
This is from a mass funeral of 12 murdered ANC-followers in a township west of Johannesburg. There was a very tense atmosphere, angry words being spoken and police helicopters disturbing the funeral services.
This was scanned from a Kodachrome slide.

must have been strange to walk around this as a white european under those circumstances.
but you take on the feelings, and they are serious.

in my humble opinion, as long as human race keeps on existing this photo will be an eternal reminder of how people must not live. Well, in this case, the following slogan comes to my mind: "Make love, not war"!
