This picture was taken during a safari in the Kruger National Park in South Africa. In this shot, you can see the top of the head of about 7 lionesses. We counted about a total of 14 lionnesses in this pack + one male lion. They were watching a huge horde of several hundreds buffaloes walking by. When the horde was passed the lion pack, the pack did not move as they were probably following this horde for days waiting for the moment they would move in for the kill (quoting my guide).
This was my first field trip with my new Nikkon D40. This is my first SLR camera so I am still learning how to optimize the setting in different lighting conditions. The photo was retouched using Jasc Paint Shop Pro's "One Step Photo Fix". It was a really cloudy day. |

I think this is a very interesting shot and worthy of interest. I did a small workshop just to see if I could enhance the colors and clearity of the shot. I hope you don't mind. Welcome to TE and please keep posting such interesting shots. DT
