Photographer's Note
The Valley of Desolation lies in the Camdeboo National Park that surrounds the town of Graaff Reinet. The cliffs are unique dolerite formations that reach a height of more than 120 metres above the valley floor – monuments to the forces and beauty of nature. The view over the valley on a clear day is quite extraordinary and impossible to do justice to with a mere photograph.

Hello JP,
Wonderful colours, shapes, POV and DOF. Is this view to the south or north...I guess the former, in which case the mountains in the background must be the front of the Cape Fold Belt. This is just a fabulous image. Very well done.

Hello JP - Another good image from the Graaff Reinet area.I am always impressed by the way trees cling on to life as they seem so precariously anchored on the rocks and pinnacles. The rocks are very well lit and the details well captured. Excellent view across the valley. Warm regards rosemary
