...near Capetown you can get to see the famous great white sharks from very near. The boats start from Gansbaay and gets you to the seal colony nearby. A bait is thrown into the water to attract the curious sharks. They usually come to have a look, but rarely try to bite. Their food is seals.
In many areas of South Africa, this practice is not well received as people say this trains the sharks to attack surfers. In this particular location, however, there are no surfers. It is a nature reserve, and many miles off shore.
