Photographer's Note

These rather scowlingly looking guys turned out to be very nice and hospitable teachers of the school for girls in Delgo.
Mind the mudbricks in the wall. They are not distorted by the camera lens. They really looked like that. The house (in fact the teachers' house) looked quite straight nevertheless.
The heavy loaded bicycle is mine. I've just ridden on it from Wadi Halfa.
We were preparing for a kind of 'family group portrait'. I'd just set up the tripod. It was supposed to be a test shot.
However (and it happens to me quite often) the test shot turned out to be more interesting than the final posed photo.
