Photographer's Note

This snapshot was taken while crossing the Nile near a tiny village called Sawarda. I followed a good new tarmac road from Wadi Halfa to Khartoum on the east bank of the Nile. However there are some interesting sites on the west bank and a boat is the only way to get there (no bridges between the High Dam in Aswan and Dongola). In January 2010 I paid the boatman 5 Sudanese pounds (2 $ or so, then), after some negotiations.

As far as this photo is concerned - I do not like the cut at the bottom. And the DOF is too deep. And there is too much sky. I put two alternative versions in WS.
