Photographer’s Note

Early in the morning... "Oh s***!" You need to go to the toilet but it´s so cold outside and so warm inside the sleeping bag. Then you stupidly wait and wait until you put together all the courage needed to go out now that it seems the sun is coming out.
The sound of the zipper brokes into the dawn and there you are, forgetting what you was due to do by order of the nature, becuase in front of your tent there is an ocean of clouds, and more surprinsingly: There is an island just right there. This island is mount Meru, another peak, another old volcano, just beside the Kilimanjaro, with its 4562 meters is the eternal collegue of the tallest one of Africa... Well, as eternal as the next eruption allows it.
Take care, forget about mortgages and keep travelling.

Hallo Miguel. Ein wundervolles Photo. Es lebt von der Gegenüberstellung der Person im Vordergrund zur grandiosen Landschaft im Hintergrund. Auch die Farbkontraste sind hervorragend. Ein schönes und sehenswertes Photo. Viele Grüße, wolfgang.

Great, really great! There's a very special atmosphere in this picture and it's buildup is amazing. The black silhouette of the foreground works very well against the pastel background.

Ravie de pouvoir admirer le Kilimanjaro au travers de ta photo bien réussie. J'en arrive et ce jour-là le sommet ne s'est pas dévoilé à cause de la brume.
Merci de me rappeler de bons souvenirs qui sont tout proches. Je m'empresse d'aller voir ton carnet de voyage.

Hello Miguel. A very fine shot, with the silhouetted camera person not only balancing the shot nicely but representing an image of the present age - a person with arm stretched out in front holding a digital compact. The effect is great, and creates a strong sense of space and distance. I wonder if this volcano ever had snow on top. Well done.

De TE-vuelta ya. Espero ahora que tendré más tiempo (o sea, se supone que estaré currando...) miraré las fotos que has colgado a ver qué me he perdido. Aunque esta es una muestra muy buena.

Grande profundidad con las nubes dando un toque grande también.

Interesting and amusing note Miguel. The view is beautiful. Being so high provide suh a great perspective of the land. Good composition with the solhouette properly placed as not to obstruct the view. The wide and deep view is excellent and provides a sense of freedom. Thanks Miguel.

Bueno, bueno...

Hola Miguel,

Preciosa vista, con el mar de nubes por abajo y los cirros por arriba. El primer plano en contraluz es soberbio, la figura del fotógrafo se confunde con las rocas y produce una extraña sensación (algo parecido a un centauro, pero en versión lagarto). La cima tenuemente iluminada del Meru es preciosa y la profundidad atmosférica un luco. Una bellísima imagen, anticipo de las que nos esperan... Un gran trabajo!

Enhorabuena por tu trabajo, tienes una fotos fantasticas. Esta me gusta mucho pero puestos a sacarle un pero: tiene quiza algo de ruido que molesta un poco, puede ser el sensor algo sucio con el f 20.0 o es mi monitor?

Excelente toma a la que auguro muchas opiniones favorables. El color turquesa del cielo es estupendo y la composición tiene un toque pictórico sobresaliente. Las nubes de abajo y arriba que ni pintadas.
Se ve que la necesidad fisiológica apretó para obligarte a no perderte esta vista. Lástima del excesivo ruido, aunque en este caso no molesta tanto ya que va bien con las nubes.

Bella composición, el primer plano tomado tiene un encanto especial, además de encuadre perfecto, con una reducción a silueta, que crea un buen efecto en la imagen, la parte posterior es impecable, la gran gama de colores conseguidos en el cielo y la montaña, con ese tono suave, crean un efecto envolvente maravilloso.
Esta seria un magnifico cartel, para cualquier película.

Miguel, now you have ALL my attention. My biggest dream is to go next year or 2009 to Tanzania. 3-4 weeks to get to the top of Kilimandjaro, Ngorongoro Crater and Sansibar Island. I will look very carefully all your posts and notes, starting now! Perfect composition with silhoutte completely off center and Mt Meru swimming in the sea of clouds.

Hello Miguel,

You show us the roof of the world, with the silhouette of the photographers in the corner to the left.
The low cloud around the mountain together with the cloudy sky give a nice composition.

Posiblemente esta sea una de tus mejores fotos en TE de tu ascensión la kilimanjaro (lo que me recuerda un esketch de los Monty Pyton).
Sugerente y poderosa al mismo tiempo.
