Almost there... Photo

Photographer’s Note

You have been walking up the mountain since almost 8 hours ago all through the night, just being part of the lanterns parade. Temperature something between -10º to -15º celsius. Since there is not amusement possible with the landscape because of the darkness, you just wait and wish endlessly for sun to come and warm you up, for the dawn to begin to clear your eyes up. The firsts, the quickers one are already there, you can see them like waiting for you.
Finally the dawn starts to drawn the Mawenzi mountain already under your regard although it has more than 5100 meters of altitud, and oh boy! A yellow orange sea of clouds joyfully warning you that the top of Africa is just right there, very, very near...

This photo was taken arriving to Stella point which is the border of the crater, from there to Uhuru Peak is just a tiny and soft climb up... yes, you are almost there, where not even Ernest Hemingway tried to arrive, although he wrote a wonderful short story about the mountain, something you wont achieve ever in your life time... The time of the Kilimanjaro.

Ya van ocho horas caminando cuesta arriba y atravesando la noche. La temperatura ente -10 y -15 grados. Ya que es imposible entretenerse con el paisaje, oculto en la oscuridad, sólo queda esperar y desear sin descanso que salga el Sol y te caliente, que el amanecer ilumine tus ojos. Los primeros, los más rápidos, ya están arriba, imaginas que están esperándote a tí.
Finalmente el amanecer dibuja la montaña Mawenzi ya bajo tus ojos, aunque su pico se eleva a más de 5100 metros de altitud, entonces ¡Oh amigos! Un mar de nubes amarillo-anarajadas alegremente te advierten que la cima de África está ahí mismo, muy, muy cerca...
Esta foto se hizó llegando al pico Stella, ya en el borde del cráter, desde allí al pico Uhuru sólo queda una pequeña y suave cuesta... Sí, ya casi has llegado, allí donde ni siquiera Ernerst Hemingway lo hizo, aunque si logró escribir un relato sobre esta montaña, algo que sabes tú nunca conseguirás en toda tu vida... Tu vida en el Kilimanjaro.

imagen maravillosa, estupenda contraposición entre la silueta negra y el mar de nubes iluminadas del primer sol ... me imagino pero que poco nos puede decir de la sensación estando ahí tras muchas horas esfuerzo ...

Buenas noches Miguelón,

Preciosa foto, el mar de nubes es impresionante. Es poco natural para el hombre ver las nubes desde arriba, creo que esa es una de las razones por las que tanto impresionan. Con esta luz rasante y suave, más aún. Me gusta el negro contraluz para subrayar más la emoción de la luz y del calor. La nota ayuda mucho a "sentir" la foto que al fin y al cabo es también para "sentir". También los colores son impresionantes. Sólo echo en falta una cosita: que te hubieras tomado un poquito más de tiempo para limpiar el cielo de ruido... ¡Sería todavía más una pasada absoluta!

Tu nos ofreces una image muy emocionante! Me gusta mucho esta luz brillante del amanecer encima del mar de nubes casi infinito. Es un momento mágico que no irás olvidar.

That is a wonderful story. Looking at your shot, you can imagine it fully. I only can't imagine the cold, since the shot is quite warm. Nice view. I would have loved to see a shot just 15 minutes before this one! It's already quite bright here and the deep red glow just 15 minutes earlier must have been every more beautiful!

Hola Miguel, what a beautiful and dramatic capture. The soft light on the cloud banks, the contrast with the solhouetted crater...sheer visual poetry and a great add to yout travelogue. Superb.

STRONG MAN!!! what an effort to climb these mountan with these temeratures.Your (0ur) reward was this fantastic view above the clouds.Good composition with the sillhouette of this peak and wonderful colors at the clouds and the sky.A great shot.

Autentico guión de tú película particular, las sensaciones y adversidades vividas en esa montaña, quedaran en tu recuerdo, creo que por lo comentas de manera especial, a nosotros nos dejas esta bella imagen para recrearnos y intentar imaginar, lo que tú viviste allí.
Es un gran trabajo, muy completo en todos los sentidos.

La foto es más que un paisaje, es un momento único e irrepetible. Es un momento difícil de describir, pero que seguro da una gran sensación al cuerpo.

Otra vez, debo de acabar con la palabra enhorabuena.
