[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
A fellow teacher invited me to visit his family and to accompany him to his sister’s send off party. It took 2 dalla-dallas and a rather strenuous mountain trek to get to the village.

This is his brother in the picture. I remember he was embarrassed he wasn’t wearing his suit yet. He called the children over so he could be in the picture, and later on came out wearing a very extravagant tux.
Turns out I was the one feeling out of place in my ragged skirt and top in the midst of such a well-dressed community. However not a single soul seemed much to mind. I would never have imagined it possible to feel so at home in such an unfamiliar place.

In swahili Karibisha means welcome.
