One Door Closed, Another Opened Photo

Photographer’s Note

Walking around the small town called Mto Wbu near Lake Manyara, to see the different tribes. I encountered many friendly people. Some were just too eager and wanted to sell me some souvenirs, many were just going on with there daily lives. Children were just happy and playing. I saw a child poking out his head to look at me with curiosity, just as I lifted up my camera to take a photo of him, he closed the door and disappeared, and at the same time another door opened and a group of happy children looking at me laughing and saying “Hello and Jumbo.” They may have seen enough westerners but not many Asian tourists. As they were laughing at me, I was just happy to photograph them.

I love their curious and funny expressions as they peep at you from behind the door. The doorway makes a nice frame for them. Great!

Great shot of these kids with nice different expressions at their faces.I`m sure the two ones in the foreground lost their shyness after seeing the result at your camaera`s monitor....I like how they are framed by the doors.

Hello Way! What a happy group and it seems that they have enjoyed the little shooting with you. Funny how they come out of the door, not really stepping out, maybe a little shy to come too close so the door helped to keep a "save distance". What a lovely shot! One could not compose children in this way given several hours and a studio location. No, it just has to happen in front of you, and you have to just happen to be there!

This is just classic! I bet you were hoping your new found friend would open the door once more?! And then just what does he do?? He calls four more curious cheeky smiling chaps with him and they look and laugh and wonder and admire and no doubt talk later on about that man,,, the man with the colour,,, from a far, with his camera, that was there at the gate today!

You managed to keep your level low. You got the basics of shooting children, you went down to their level and made them feel comfortable. The shot looks natural and welcoming (not for the one who shut you out ;) This is not an easy task and you nailed on the spot! You're good with the little rascals!
