It is possible for a baobab tree to live for thousands of years. There is one baobab tree in South Africa known to be older than the pyramids of giza. The wide trunk of the babob tree can hold up to 30,000 gallons of water making it an important tree for wildlife. This one stood proudly on a slight hill roadside near the Nogorongoro Crater in Tanzania.
