Photographer's Note

West-African life takes place on and along the streets. People riding or waliking the streets or sitting on the sidewalks selling all kind of stuff, like her in Lomé, the Capital of Togo, by far the biggest city of thwe land and still with a provincial feel.
This is the ring of Lomé where most traffic can be found. Along the road you can see that the government is trying to cope with the sexual habits in this country that cause a lot of problems, older men sleeping with young girls (with some presents as exchange or just out of relations of power).
I've seen boards where children declared themself 'too young for sex' ('It's my life' written on their hands)and here we see how the elder men are approached. The text is "What would you say if this man was sleeping with your young daughter?". and further on : "So, why are you sleeping with his young daughter?".
