View my window onto Port El Kantaoui
Dear TE Friends, I recommend this pleasant place to everybody, superb starting point to the excursions, the Sousse station is near, trains depart for all important cities...
Port El Kantaoui is a tourist complex 10 kilometres north of Sousse in central Tunisia. It was built in 1979 specifically as a tourist centre, around a large artificial harbor which provides mooring with 340 berths for luxury yachts, hosting sporting activities from water skiing to paragliding, and several golf courses. The 36-hole PGA approved championship course makes Port El Kantaoui a popular destination for golfing.
The architecture, although modern and dazzlingly white, has been modelled on the more traditional buildings in Tunisia, complete with narrow streets and arches. The hotels that line the beachfront extend from Sousse itself along miles of sparkling clean sea to the harbour of Port El Kantaoui and to the north of the harbour.
In style, the port area Port El Kantaoui is designed as a white and blue Tunisian style village with reproduced medina and cobblestone streets. It is popular with package holiday visitors, families and first time visitors.

Hello George,
Good perspective over this attractive looking town made all the more so by the pleasant ambient light. The cloud covered sky adds much to the mood. Very good sharpness throughout.

Hello George
I like the subtle warm cold colour contrasts between the orange tinted clouds & blue sky. A superb high vantage point, with good sharpness & repetition of the myriad of white, heat reflecting buildings. Well done!

Hello George,
Your photo makes Port El Kantaoui look most inviting. The light and sky are gorgeous and excellently captured. I am not a fan of package holidays, artificial harbors, beachfront hotels or golf courses (especially in climates like Tunisia's). However, at least this resort looks as if it has adopted -- or adapted -- indigenous architectural styles at a fairly urban density and mixed apartments and vilas with the hotels. In doing so it seems to have achieved an identity that is both recognizably Tunisian and unique. It's a relief to see an evidently lovely stretch of coastline that has not been turned into a nowhere zone by faceless standard-issue large resort hotels. Thank you for a good post.
Regards,
Mary
