Hi Malgorzata,
Beautiful view. This is exactly what I imagine of an oasis.
Congratulations for 2 years here.
About points, I have the system off, therefore I don't see points and I can not give points. So, it's simple.
I agree with you that the thumbnail is important.
I very often see photos from people that comment or critique mine. But also often I just go to the general gallery and I see some photos. It's the case of this one.

Hi Malgorzata,

Congratulations to two years on TE and to your impressive APP (Average Points per Picture) of 35.6!

This is a fine picture with a strong green foreground and good colours behind, a fine diagonal starting with that road in the lower left corner and continuing upwards.

You have some interesting theories on the TE point system. I think it is quite clear that there is no correlation whatsoever between the total points a picture receives and the "photo quality" of the same picture. However, there is definitely a strong correlation between the number of critiques you write and the points you receive. You have an average of 18,0 critiques per picture (CPP), i.e. you get what you give. But I think that the question of views is a bit different. There must be many users who are just looking at interesting pictures and who are not involved in this "point system". I think it is a fact that if someone post a picture with a girl with unsufficient clothing, this photo will automatically have many views. But not many points!

Still, once in a while you will receive some constructive critque from which you can learn and improve your photo skills. That´s what TE is for me!

What about the ones that visit but doesn't give points, like me :)))) Olá Malgorzata, the important thing for me is to share images, trips and destinations of the world. In my opinion points only make that sharing less interesting. I bet it's more hot here than in Granada, although in february it shoudn't be that bad. Nice combination of greeny palmtrees and the arid mountain landscape seen behind and good inclusion of the way at left corner.

Hello Malgorzata,
I like this composition of green, brown and blue in appropriate proportions. I remember this from the deserts I have seen: the almost shocking greenness of the oasis and the sharp border between green and brown, along the Nile in Egypt for instance. A fascinating experience.
Regarding the points on TE, I read what Gunnar wrote, and your reply, and I basically agree. TE is almost more of a social site than a photo site. Acquiring a lot of friends is the basic condition for becoming a "good" photographer, then you can get 50-100 points for every picture, even if they are out of focus, overexposed, tilted and boring.
I wasn't thinking of you ;-). This one is perfectly sharp and the colours are very good.
Still, being on TE can be a lot of fun, but sometimes I am ready to give it up as an utter waste of time.

No na przykład mi się ostatnio nie chce rozpisywać, naprawdę tylko oglądam, mam jakiegoś lenia, szybciej obejrzę i powiem sobie, OOO FAJNE, niż napiszę...O FAJNE...
Poza tym "O FAJNE" jako napis, brzmi jakoś PROSTO, więc nie piszę...no i mało czasu ostatnio:)))
Ale do CIEBIE wracam!!!

This is a well composed shot of this oasis and dessert valley. THe green palm trees provide excellent contrast for the rest of the landscape. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail.

Hi Malgorzata. Congrats on your latest milestone. As for points, I think a strong thumbnail will get more attention (views) but a good note to back the photo will get more written responses also. Whether that’s points or not is another story. Of course you have to give to receive holds true also.
Great photo, I love the colour contrasts. Good sharpness and details. Thanks for sharing.

Happy Anniversary for 2 years on TE! I read your hypotheses with interest, and also Gunnar's views, which are just about spot-on in my opinion. The other thing to take into account is the subject matter and Google hits, which you touch on with interest in places. There must be a lot of non-members who browse the gallery too. I think the points system is totally useless, and although I don't turn them off (If I did I would write critiques all day! ;D)I don't use them correctly.
I love this shot looking over the top of the palms. The green combines so well with the brown of the mountains and they make a perfect frame.

Hi Malgorzata,
This place remains me of those places I saw on my Moroccon trip.
In this photo I like those beautifully shaped mountains on the background and those green palm trees in this very arid landscape. Great colors and really good high POV.
