Photographer’s Note
There is not a great deal to say other than a nice little group of people.
The story is that I had been part of a teaching program in Kampala, for doctors from Developed countries, to add to the value of the course I went to a local hospital to talk to their technicians about the maintenance of medical equipment.
One of the talks I was doing was about the use of Soda lime to remove carbon dioxide from expired air during an anaesthetic.
I asked the local technicians, who were from Uganda and four who were from Rwanda, what they knew about the process involved in removing CO2.
To my surprise the man on the left in the picture stood up and on the blackboard we were using ran through the whole chemical process, with all the correct formulae, from start to finish.
I was staggered and humbled by his knowledge and from someone who specialised in maintenance and would not be expected to know the chemical process.
You never know what knowledge is around you. I remain humble to this day.

Hello Mike,
I really like your "documentary" photos! Nothing "artificial" about them - about the people's behaviour and about the surroundings; and this makes the shot so interesting.
I also read your Note with much interest! Yes, yes, we NEVER know what kind of people are around us... what they may know and what they may possible do... I have made sure of it, too!
Concerning the photo itself, I like the composition and the inclusion of the bright "orange elements" in the photo :) I don't drink Fanta but I like its colour ;)
Best regards,
and have a nice weekend :)
Elena
