Running through the Field Photo

Photographer’s Note

Taken in Livingstone, Zambia. I hired bikes with 2 other travelers and we explored life outside of the Victoria Falls. The town and village were very green and friendly with people calmly going about their day. This child was keen for some photos, and I asked her to run away from the camera, and then back. I've added some radial blur around the girl who is left in focus, so we can feel like we're running with her.

Hi David,
Good use of the effect to create a "look" for the image. Strange, from the way her hair looks she could be running backwards.
Good use of post to improve an image.

Excellent effect David,

I thought it was a 'lense baby' shot, the colors are buce and the somposition is fine with the kid placed nicely in the middle of the frame.

It feels as if you were running with her. The motion blur is so very effective. It put us at the scene. I know this must be a very spontaneous shot, not time to plan for the composition, but it's not bad, perhaps just a little too center. Otherwise, it's a very good shot.

When I stare into this photo, I really get the feel of her running away, so your pp work is effective.

I like the focus on the girl with her brightly colored dress as against the green surrounding of the natural setting.

Great effect that enhance, very well, the feeling of speed. Details, as the sheet of paper in her hand, add a plus to the picture. She's running with a message.

Hi David.
Just found your shots from Africa, which are terrific. I was surprised to open the thumbnail and discover the blurring, but it is a successful bit of post processing, I think. The girl is very sharply focused, and your blurring has made the fact that she has her back to us a strength of the picture. I love the colours of her clothes and that little note in her hand, as if speed were essential in its delivery. An unusual but really good photo.

The effect of the radial blur is quite inspired...looks almost like a zoomed shot. Excellent sharpness on the running girl. Well done with the timing of the shot as well. Good work!
