Photographer’s Note
While recently in Zambia, I visited the town of Livingstone. I hired a bike and rode around exploring the village-like back roads... I came across a field with kids playing, so I decided to join in the fun and encourage their acrobatics, throwing around of hay...
This little girl made me smile so much - from her old fashioned red dress, her braided hair, her happy go lucky smile...
She was just so joyful, and I've tried to capture that mood in the photo.

Of all your incredible photos this would have to be one of my favourites. The little girl's face is so full of life. You have captured a great moment in time.

She is just irresistible, so often now when we talk of Africa we think of disasters and all sorts of problems but seeing this happy child and her gesture with open arms, one gets a much more positive vision - this is also the quiet Africa, of whom no one talks in the west... You found a superb model with her radiant smile, I also like the colours a lot !
Best,
Cath.
