Silk Road: Sevan lake Photo

Photographer’s Note

Travels on the Silk Road:
The historical branch of the Silk Road from the Black Sea through Tbilisi and Armenia to Tabris in Iran led passed the Sevan lake in Gegharkunik Mars, Armenia. The small rivers feeding into the lake bring some fine volcanic particles that are responsible for the natural, turquoise colour (in Switzerland, the lake of Brienz has the same colour). The lake is drained by the Hrazdan river, a prime source of water to parts of the arid country. The ornithologically bent among you might suspect some Armenian gulls over the lake.
The slide was scanned, the picture straightened and sharpened.

Very good seen Dietrich and very good composed photo.I like the lightness and colors here very much.

Hallo Dietrich. Ein interessantes Bild aus einer Region, von der wir hier auf TrekEarth recht wenige Fotos zu sehen bekommen. Das vertikale Bildformat funktioniert gut, um einen Eindruck von der Landschaft und ihrer Tiefe zu bekommen, und die Pferde im Vordergrund verleihen dem ganzen eine lebhafte Komponente und einen farblichen Kontrastpunkt. Die Qualität des Scans ist nicht schlecht, aber die im Himmel sichtbaren Staubpartikel sollten eventuell noch digital entfernt werden. Frohe Feiertage.

Great shot Dear Dietrich. This Silk Road travel of yours insires us a lot and the shots stand on their own. This is one of the few shots that reflect Sevan's color as it is. Your inclusion of the horses and small trees gives scale against the background of mountains.
