Photographer’s Note
Sevanavank consists of two remaining rough-hewn churches built on the peninsula near the city of Sevan. The peninsula used to be an island until the USSR decided to drain a lot of the water from the lake and the water level dropped more than 30 meters. The courtyard had some interesting green khachkars. They were carved from a plentiful local green stone and stood out from the others across Armenia which are virtually all made of tuff. The altar is one of the nicest in Armenia, and this is one of the few active monasteries in Armenia.

Hello Grzegorz,
This is one of the best images I have seen on Trek Earth today, spectacular. My father and I like this image, because of the fantastic colour contrasts formed by the strange atmospheric conditions. Backlighting very much makes this photograph. The depth of field is incredible, you can see as far as that village in the distance. I would like to know more about this area, so if you could include a note in future posts, it would be well worth it. You have managed perfect layering, quality and sharpness, as well as a wonderful land/sky/water ratio. Great work!

Hallo Grzegorz!
A wonderful and really impressive scenery and picture as well.
I like that you show these venerable buildings in their beautiful surroundings. For me this photo all around is perfect - a great one! But a short note, only some words, would be good!!!
Greetings from Germany - and have a nice Sunday!

Classical shot captured against a fantastic sky. The color balance and especially the light on the buildings are excellent. Nice work.
