Northern Avenue (Hyusisayin Poghota) breathes a new life into a Soviet City. This architectural "controversy" is a mass project undertaken by various people from the Armenian Government to the Armenians of the Diaspora. It is controversial because it took allot of effort to relocate the residents of the shanty town-like settlements in the heart of a bustling city. This project also gave a very necessary facelift to a city so Soviet in its architecture that without this project there would not be a reassured vision of its future. Northern avenue is the new face of a changing city.
