A huge pole with prayer flags. This one stands in the courtyard of the Kurjey Lhakang.
The Kurjey Lhakang consists of three buildings. Inside the oldest one (mid 17th century) an imprint of the body of Guru Rimpoche can be seen.
Guru Rimpoche is a 8th century missionary and saint, regarderd by the Bhutanese as the second buddha.
He visited Bhutan from Nepal in 746 and united the country by bringing two rival kings together.
