Photographer’s Note
This is the entrance to Jakar dzong, built in the 17th century, in Bumthang district of central Bhutan. Bumthang is the cradle of Bhutanese culture, and whereas Jakar is just a small town of limited interest, the area around it is covered with monasteries and religious shrines of various kinds.
There is one interesting point about Jakar, though, apart from the dzong: This is where the most famous Bhutanese beer is brewed, Red Panda. It comes in two varieties, a good German style Weissbier, and a gueuze tasting just like in Belgium!
This is a scanned Kodachrome slide.

Hej Gert,
A very fine balance in this picture. There is a fine diagonal line going from the baskets up along the gate and to the tower. It separates the stone material to the left from the vegetation to the right. A good observation. The sky is very fine!
Also interesting about the beer!

Hi Gert. I like the composition of this picture. I know about the low exposition range of the slides (I used slides for a while), but I think this picture is too much contrasted: there are overexposed areas that maybe come from the scanning process: I'm sure they don't exist on the original film. This is anyway a nice shot. Ciao, Marco.
