Photographer’s Note

During my visit to Wangdue monastery I've seen a holly ceremony behind the some doors. It was very restricted to take pictures but I took some after a vocal permission from the high priest.

Wangdi Phodrang) is a dzongkhag (district), of central Bhutan. This is also the name of the dzong (built in 1638) which dominates the district, and the name of the small market town outside the gates of the dzong. The name is said to have been given by the Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal who was searching for the best location for a dzong to prevent incursions from the south. At the chosen spot the Shabdrung encountered a boy named Wangdi playing beside the river and hence named the dzong "Wangdi's Palace".

There are three paved roads in Wangdue Phodrang dzongkhag. The Lateral Road enters from the west at Dochu La Pass, crosses the Pana Tsang Chhu at Wangdue Phodrang dzong, and continues east to Tongsa. One spur road heads north from Wangdue Phodrang to the dzong at Punakha and slightly beyond. This road eventually becomes the trail to Gasa. A second spur departs the Lateral Road near the Pele La pass halfway between Wangdue and Tongsa, traveling south a short distance to Gangteng monastery and the Phobjika valley where the rare Black-necked Cranes (grus nigricollis) may be found...

You were lucky to get permission to take one as last summer the priest got mad at me for attempting to take a foto in the church during the service. Very nice light creating beautiful shadows on the left mainly, and a real documentary from those far off places

Hello Ishan,
nice the interior of this monastery with the monks to take part in the holly ceremony.It was a difficult shot because of the low lighting conditions.The scene has noise, especially in the black parts, but the result is informative for this interior scene of the monastery.

Bu fotografiniza hayran oldum. Yirmi-bes yil evvel buna benzer bir fotografi Shanghai'da çekmistim, fakat bugünün kameralari o kadar daha iyi ki, benim çekmek istedigim fotografi siz çekmissiniz. Not da bol malumatli ve sahane.

dear Ihsan,
this light and shadows show us one interesting space with unusual people and religious air,
to tell the truth, I don't understand why priests of almost all religions wear vivid colored clothes like these red...in my feeling "simple and quiet" must match them.
but in this shot, lined red men make nice depth in the sight, and their irregular line is wonderful.
each person looks showing each unique figure, in ordered space.
