Photographer’s Note
I agree this is not a very beautiful picture, nor is it an artistic composition. I still find it a bit interesting though, because it shows two countries at the same time. This is from the border between Bhutan and India, in the divided town called Phuentsholing on the Bhutanese side and Jaigaon in India (West Bengal state). The border actually runs right through the gutter. There is no prize for guessing which side is which.
Scanned from a Kodachrome slide.

Hej Gert,
No, not beautiful but still interesting, even if the colours look a bit off. Which side is which? (Just joking)

Hej Gert
I don't totaly agree whit you about the beauty in this image, sometimes a story gives that smooth filter that suddenly makes the picture better even in an estetical way.

I always wanted to see how Puntsholing looks! My guess: left side India, right side Bhutan...?

Hello Gert,
it's a very interesting picture! I'm not sure we can often see such photos, especially here on TE! I've always been interested in documentary photos showing daily life and reality in those places where I have never been and will hardly ever go... but when I see such photos I always try to imagine myself standing there and seeing it with my own eyes...
Very peculiar atmosphere, and it's not difficult to guess which side is which!
regards,
Elena
