One year on TE Photo

Photographer’s Note

Today I celebrate my first year here on TE, so I thought of something suitable for this anniversary. This small child we found near one of the souvenir stalls in the middle of Angkor Thom in Cambodia. His mother was a street vendor, and while she was working her son was sleeping in this 'sleeping bag'. You'll find a close-up in the workshop.

On today's occassion I'd like to thank all of the visitiors to my gallery, especially the frequent ones. Your comments and critiques give me a lot of ideas, but most of all so much satisfaction. Thanks and hope to see you not only here, but on the road as well!

This is really excellent, Michal. Good focus on the sleeping child's face and lovely red colour.

One year on TE...I hope you're not suggesting with this shot that it's time for a break!

Good subject and focus on the child face. I would have removed the top part, because I think that black blurred tree trunks and white sky are distracting, and also the left part including the stone .

I also saw similar scenes from Cambodia...and I like this shot....that baby looks so harmless and sweet...maybe dreaming about a better and easier life...while the mama is struggling for surviving.

Hi Michal

Congratulation for your first anniversary on TE, specially for your contribution with pictures of bajaus, whose the so vulnerable existence is rarely addressed here!
This picture is perfectly suitable for such an occasion, although I am not sure of how old this kid is. But the photo is lovely. The colors are good, and there is a lot of tenderness in it. I have used a similar system for my daughter in India, and I find it great! When there is not much wind, that's the best to take advantage on every single little breath of air!

congratulation for your first birthday on TE,I hope there will be much others!Yu have chosen a beautiful and lovely photo ,I like this baby sleeping like an angel!The light is just on his face that allow to see him very well,and the red transparency of the net gives a nice softness!Very nice idea,very well realised!

Hi Michal,
That is soooo sweet! I like that you have taken the shot through the netting of the hammock and I like his little toes sticking out through the holes. Nice soft dappled light too.
