Photographer’s Note
The temples of the Angkor are well guarded by both male and female guards. Although most major temples cover vast areas, help is always at hand for tourists. This is a smartly dressed guard inside the Ta Keo Temple. It was close to noon, not the best time to get good outdoor photographs and it was drizzling as well. I couldn't pull off a decent photograph of the temple but the light filtering in through the doorways of the uppermost tier of the temple was good enough for this portrait.
Ta Keo is a towering but plainly decorated temple-mountain dedicated to Shiva. Known in its time as ‘the mountain with golden peaks’, this was one of the first temple to be constructed wholly of sandstone. It was constructed as a state-temple by Jayavarman V. Unlike previous kings, he built Ta Keo outside of his main capital area. Many Angkorian temples are partially unfinished, but Ta Keo seems to have stopped construction particularly early in the decoration phase of construction, as there are very few carvings. Yet Ta Keo is an interesting temple well worth a visit.

Hello Sabyasachi,
A superb portrait of this lady security guard with her smiling face. (Surprising, how many of these guards find difficulty in smiling ;-)) Excellent lighting and tones and a good backdrop.

Hi Sabyasachi,
A fine portrait, with harsh light well managed, framing and placing of subject are fine.. her expression is well captured, as she smiles but her eyes tell a different story...

Hi Sabyasachi,
You are definitely the portrait master, you did well to notice the lighting opportunity and the positioning of the guard against the neutral background works really well.
Best regards,

Hi Sabyasachi,
one of your portraits which astonish me often. Nice to have a note about the temple with a portrait. New kind of art. I like the way she is looking at you, a bit sceptic - I think about the result, not about you. But she seems to be familiar with that, I would think that by her smile. I don't think a lot people can face a camera in that relaxed way.

A nice, sensitive portrait,. She has an interesting and intelligent look. I like the composition, placed well to the left and looking across the picture plane, not into the lens. The geometric verticals make a strong, simple setting. I think the face is balanced perfectly by the column of darkness to the right. Like a lot of your portraits, however, I would prefer a softer, more natural saturation. For interest, I downloaded it to photoshop and knocked back the saturation a touch. It looked perfect. But this is a matter of taste. this is a beautifully crafted image. regards Kevin

Great work on this post, Sabyaschi. You are a real master of portraits. What a nice way of showing us this beautiful place, considering the terrible light conditions that you got. Strong light inside - marvellous light inside. Love the textures of the background and the way you manage to connect with her, getting this simple and humble expression. Really good!

Dear Sabyasachi
A lovely portrait which I would be proud of, but may not be one of your high class ones! The face is so nicely lit in the soft light, and the hard light coming from behind her has been handled well. The dark corridor on the right is a good inclusion for the contrast
Best wishes
