Photographer’s Note

Sans doute aussi populaire que le temple où elle passe ses journées, cette adorable soeur fait partie des curiosités de Bayon.

Ce temple est l'un des plus impressionnants et des plus reconnus de Siem Reap, à cause des figures de pierre géantes qui ornent les tours. Il y a 54 de ces tours ayant 4 faces chacunes, totalisant 216 faces, 217 avec celle de la soeur... :-P)

Si les rides pouvaient parler, elles nous en raconteraient surement des histoires.
Très beau portrait. Bravo d'avoir saisi son expression, entre fierté et amusement sans doute.

Salut garçon,
Belle madame! C'est vrai qu'on la voit tout le temps. Je pense même que toi-même tu nous l'as déjà présenté. Ta lentille et ton talent on fait des merveille avec cette lumière qui arrivait de côté mai aussi un peu de face. D'ailleurs, cette lumière, elle semblait un peu l'aveugler et je trouve que son expression faciale n'est pas la même que ce qu'on voit d'elle en général. Le bokeh vert est hallucinat, digne des meilleurs trips!

ça aurait été le fun de te voir hier...

one of the most phtographed women here on TE I should think. But a well handled portrait nontheless, nice light and the POV gives it an edge.

Hi Andre,
She is photogenic, and you provide a classic portrait of her, with short DoF and plenty of contrast. Great to see that someone earns an own theme by just being herself, instead of something much less meaningful, like singing stupid pop songs, kicking ball or inheriting billions of dollars...

Tu arrives toujours à trouver le bon angle de prise de vue pour que ta photo nous dévoile plus la personne que tu photographies. Ici, l'utilisation de la contreplongée nous donne la sensation que cette femme est ailleurs, au dessus de nous.

Hello my friend ;-)

I am back home and very busy sorting out 3500 images in took during the trip. Cambodia was a great succes, what a beautiful country, really something to go back.
Guess what...i did not see this woman at Bayon, but the place was also crowded by tourists. Maybe i missed her, or i was to early, don't no. But seeing this one seems i really missed something, so maybe a good excuse to go back one day ;-)
A very lovely portrait taken from a low pov which suites the picture well. Excellent sharpness and het facial expression is beautiful.

I am still busy with sorting out Vietnam, can take a while before i start posting here again, i really have to force myself to come back here and to the regualr postings. The waether was not good enough for landscapes, so there will be a lot of portraits, maybe to much, so what's the essence of uploading them?

Will see how my own feeling about it will grow in the coming days and weeks, staying away forever is also not something i have in mind right now, so don't be afraid....I'LL BE BACK ;-))))

Bonjour André,

On sent une grande humanité dans cette personne. c'est ce qui fait un portrait réussi... Notre bien que le contraire est aussi vrai; je viens de voir un portrait de Poutine quasi inhumain dans "réponses photo" , et cela fait froid dans le dos! Il a gagné un prix au World Awards!

I remember her well and I have some shots of her lovely smiling face. Your depth of field has worked well here to capture her beautiful features and make them stand out from the background. A nice expressive portrait.

Elle a des traits parfaits (presque caricaturaux) qu'il doit être délicieux de dessiner... Notamment son nez rond qui est de toute beauté...

la photo est d'une grande qualité et les couleurs sont extras!Et puis,quel charmant visage!J'adore son expression avec ce sourire qu'elle semble retenir,et j'adore les petites fentes noires à la place ds yeux ce qui en fait un portrait hors du commun!Je m'en vais de ce pas voir les autres portraits de cette nonne qui sembles être connue sur TE!

what a gorgeous face, look and smile. I'm pretty sure that I have already seen this face somewhere at TE although I can't remember in which collection.
The portrait has perfect light conditions and I don't have to tell you that the shallow DOF with f/2.8 gives you the focus exclusively where it has to be and all the rest is nicely blurred in a dirty, dark green. I guess that must be a quite heavy lens with a fixed aperture at 2.8 and must be wonderful for specific shots like this one here.

Hi André,

I do like the sharpness and background blur - creamy! - here in the compo. The division is nice and I see what you are doing here with the diagonal of her white cloth from the corner. But on the other hand I do feel like it's a bit tight at the top of the compo. But pleasant sharpness!

As Elaine wrote,"probably one of the most photographed woman,here at TE",but you managed a great shot and wonderful portrait.I Have not seen her at my recent travel,but I did 4 years ago.
I like your low POV here,which gives a nice perspective,the fine details at her face and the nice, blurred background.
