Photographer's Note

I can only presume this gentlemen to be one of the recorded 40,000+ Cambodian victims of land mines, from 1979 to present day. That's an average of about 40 victims a week for twenty years!

During three decades of war in Cambodia, land mines laid by the Khmer Rouge, the Heng Samrin & Hun Sen regimes, the Vietnamese, the KPNLF, and the Sihanoukists, were littered throughout the country. In most cases, even the soldiers did not record the location of the mines.

Thankfully there are agencies working to rid Cambodia of the landmines, and return the land back to whom it belongs, The People- once and for all.
