Photographer’s Note

Je suis de retour après quelques semaines d'absence au Cambodge.
La saison des moussons est toujours bien présente et le sol gorgé d'eau. Je suis toujours émerveillé par ces palmiers qui sortent des rizières et des lacs en crue.
Tonlé Bati est un lieu de promenade agréable au Sud de Phnom Penh.

I come back after a few weeks in Kampuchea.
The season of monsoons is always quite present and the ground gorged of water.
I am always filled with wonder by these palm trees which leave the rice plantations and the lakes in rising.
Tonlé Bati is a pleasant place of walk in the South of Phnom Penh.

long lost doc is back:D... this may not be the most amazing landscape i ve ever seen, but the way you present it is so charming bertrand... with the perfect blue sky (polariser?), simple yet powerful well balanced composition and with the natural colours... compliments bertrand...

Hi Bertrand,
This is a super clear shot. The sky is fabulous and I like the strong line of the palm framing the house/temple? in the background which draws the eye with its orange roof.

Welcome back Bertrand,
Hope you had an usuful trip for work and pleasure.
We normally avoid the monsoon, but also that season is very interesting in taking pictures as you show here. Fresh bright colours, some scatterd water and most of all....clouds..!!!
I like your simple though effective composition...very nice work.

Bonjour Bertrand

Tu signes ton retour avec une superbe image.
Une composition équilibrée, où le palmier prend toute sa dimension. La projection de son ombre sur le "lac" est très bien vue.
Le filtre polarisant permet d'obtenir un ciel magnifique qui semble clément si l'on ne connaissait pas les ravages qu'il peut causer.
Bravo pour cette réalisation de grande qualité.

yes the palm tree is fascinating.
but so is the whole sight (even more for someone who hasn't seen it in real life just yet ;o).

Cela fait plaisir de te retrouver sur TE!
Quel étrange paysage en effet avec cette immense étendue d'eau boueuse et ce palmier qui surgit. Le ciel bleu n'arrive même pas à retirer la couleur de terre de l'eau.
De jolis reflets et ombres pour donner un peu de relief à ce paysage plat.

A défault d'eau bleue tu nous montre un beau ciel avec ce cadrage vertical bien vu, c'est couleur locale d'une période de mousson, bonne composition avec le détailde la construction au toit rouge en fond.

Hi Bertrand,
The flooded area and how you set the deep perspective with that palm tree and the house at the BG, is great. Vertical cadrage increases the depth even more. I like the polarized sky and its deep blue.

Prototype de la photo assez simple, sans ambitions démesurées au point de vue artistique (pas péjoratif ce que je dis, juste que c'est direct, pas de discours alambiqués derrière : "un lieu de promenade agréable" c'est exactement ça) mais comme une évidence.

Un beau ciel, une belle lumière, de belles couleurs données par la nature.. clic clac.. messieurs-mesdames, admirez le travail... hop déjà 76 points (mérités).

La photo c'est simple parfois. Pour reprendre tes mots "Une promenade photographique agréable".

A beautiful photo for a vertical composition. Great POV and sharpness. The colors are perfect: perhaps not true to life, especially the the dark blue in the upper corner, but more dramatic than in reality. The monsoon offered you a splendid motive.

Quand il pleut là bas, il pleut !! Tu as capté une très belle lumière et le polarisant te donne un ciel qui crée un très bon contraste avec le palmier. Les couleurs sont superbe notamment cette eau boueuse qui ressort bien ici.

Content de ton séjour ? ça change de la Normandie. Quoi que...par moment c'est la mousson...en ce moment j'ai un cours d'eau qui passe devant chez moi pour descendre à la mer...toute la journée il a plu. dur dur. Dans ta photo, la qualité est au rendez vous avec ton joli coup d'oeil pour composer. non seulement tu captes les reflets, mais aussi une ombre...c'est très bien fait - à plus tard mon cher Bertrand - Bonne fin de dimanche à toi -

Je prefere celle ci a la suivante, ca rigole pas dis donc, le temps s'est leve mais on devine a la couleur de l'eau que c'est une eclaircie temporaire, une belle scene avec la touche d'exotisme apportee par la maison au fond. Je vois que tu as laisse tombe un temps l'administration pour retourner tater du terrain ;-)

Une excellente voire exceptionnelle profondeur de champs au-delà de cet arbre les pieds dans l'eau. Ici justement l'eau semble faire corps avec la terre, c'est l'opposé de la mer qui constitue un "terrain" à part et bien séparé de la terre ferme.

cette photo est très belle!J'en aime la simplicité,les couleurs et la luminosité!Malgré la mousson,tu as eu droit à quelques moments de répits,pour avoir ce ciel si bleu,agrémenté de beaux nuages blancs à l'horizon!Je pense que c'est pendant la mousson qu'on obtient les plus belles lumières,lorsque la pluie s'arrête!J'aime l'arbre du premier plan,seul avec son ombre et les 2 triangles verts d'herbes,et j'aime la petite bande de paysage qu'on voit à l'horizon dans lequel le toit rouge donne une belle touche de couleur!
