In the Three Gorges Area along the Yangtze River one can see paths carved into the cliff side. Here one makes the turn around the bend. In olden times ropes were used to pull boats upstream and these paths were used by those "pulling" the ropes. I am not sure if the paths are still useable today. It would be an interesting adventure to trek along them, just to see what's there and to follow in the footsteps of such hard working people. If you are interested I have begum a series (theme) on along the Yangtze.

All the water levels within the three gorges will continue to rise as the last portion of the great three gorges dam is in place. Some of the beauty of these gorges will have been lost. The overall feeling of wall height and narrowness of the river will also be lost. Thanks for viewing!

Hello David,
I like this view with the boat. Good perspective, natural colours... the cliffs look great - the ones in the foreground and those misty ones in the background. (Three "layers" of cliffs :) )

The second thing I must say that you also has a beautiful photo gallery and this is a good reflection of that.

I think the picture is well tarbajada technically with a large Pov, colory definition.

David, I suppose the old tow-paths will have fallen into disrepair with the advent of shueg ships like the one in the shot.

A really nice piece of 'old and new' social reporting - with a wonderful view of the river gorge. Excellent 'true' colours as well.
