Photographer’s Note

A sudden crowd in a narrow alley in the old part of Hohhot city in Inner Mongolia. This is 1986 and people are still dressed according to tradition and the codes of the culture revolution.

Hej Gert,
I remembered those spring onions as they together with the cabbage one of the few soup ingredient in the small noodle store in every corner, i Also se the penguin which must be the most common bike brand in the world by numbers.
you must have made quite a lot of attention in the mid 80's up in this dusty northern outpost in the southern Gobi desert.

Hi Gert, wonderful photo of the everyday life in Chinese village. Quite incredible quality, taking into account the photo is more than twenty years old. I wonder if it is still so or has changed. Now in China it is difficult to find such scenes. And those dresses and caps? I was in china last year but i have not seen anything like this. Thanks for sharing

Hej Gert,
Those vedgetables provide a good colour contrast in this picture. A lot of stares from the by-standers but I guess they were not offended by being photographed.
