Photographer's Note

I showed yesterday the lilies in the Guangxiao temple (光孝寺)in Guangzhou. But there were many other flowers too. I was specially interested in this one . it is kind if dwarf banana.
Ensete lasiocarpum, commonly known as Chinese dwarf banana, golden lotus banana or Chinese yellow banana, is a plant of the Ensete genus. It is thus a close relative of bananas, and also a member of the Musaceae family. The plant is native to the Yunnan province in China, where it grows high in the mountains up to an altitude of 2500 m. It is known for its yellow erect flower , generally appearing during the second year of cultivation, that can last a few months. Just before opening, the flower resembles a lotus - from which the plant gets one of its names.

Big beta picture

Here the view of the same gate as yesterday, also many lilies, lotu bananas in pots and the monk.

Lotus is the symbol of purity.
Sprinkle water on the leaves of a lotus plant and the drops immediately bead and roll off. On the way, they can collect bits of dirt or dust and thus clean the leaf—the leaf is said to be self-cleaning. Water beads up on other surfaces, such as waxy leaves, but the beading on a lotus leaf seems remarkably
different. What causes the beading on a lotus leaf?
