Photographer’s Note
Escaping the hordes in Dali and Lijiang we were very happy to find the Shaxi Valley. The people were friendly and very welcoming. This picture was taken at a "Temple Fair". The crowd was predominantly made up of senior citizens, who would not take no for an answer when we declined the food and cigarettes they offered. We finally relented, and ate from the wide variety of local dishes, even puffing on a Chinese cig or two...

Hi Benjamin.
A very strong portrait photo makes great use of light and shadow, but has plenty of telling highlights. I like your bold composition and excellent timing, and the cigarette just belongs so perfectly to that look on his face. Terrific shot and good note.

Andrew

Hi Benjamin.
Fabulous light highlighting the mans face in the foreground and bits of faces and details further in the shot and people going about their activities wether it be smoking or eating. A great scene with so much to look at from foreground to background. Nice!
Regards
Wanda
