Photographer's Note

A visit to The Great Wall further from the more touristy area at Badaling about and hour and forty minutes from Beijing. This section located at Shixia Pass is an original section which has not been rebuilt for tourism and isn't very crowded which was very nice! We nearly had the entire section to ourselves, there was a wedding photographer there taking photos of the bride and groom.

From a sign at the site "King Chuang mobilized his troops to Shixia pass, where he defeated the advance forces of Puyi of Ming Dynasty and conquered their camps. Though the forces of Ming Dynasty on the Great Wall were not formidable enough, the steep and precipitous geographic condition of the Great Wall made it difficult for King Chuang to break through. King Chuang ordered his rebellion troop to attack Badging so as to avoid that the Ming defense forces in Badging might reinforce the Shixia Pass; in the meanwhile, King Chuang observed the defense forces of Ming Dynasty. As the Ming's defense forces lost its will and determination gradually, King Chuang caught the opportunity and made his historic breakthrough." I kept the poor grammar and all in the above description.
