[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
As I was riding back from work while on assignment in Tianjin, China, I was watching the passing buildings, etc. and saw this bicycle leaning against the wall as if someone had forgotten it. Usually in Tianjin, if you see one bike you see a dozen or more together. I quickly snapped this picture through the car window as we drove past. I thought that the muted colors (especially the grey walls and floor) and subdued lighting added to the mood. I think the car window actually helped, adding a bit of softness to the image and some muted reflections.

If you hadn't mentioned it, I would have never realized it was taken through a window, not to mention a moving vehicle. I like the tile design on the floor, and the muted colors do work well together.

A very nice moment captured, with pleasing muted tones throughout the image. I don't think the reflections add to the image, and I wish that drain pipe didn't intersect with the handlebars. Otherwise, great shot.

Beautiful colors, an image that is both tactile and atmospheric

An almost wonderful shot. Good eye for seeing it.

As previously stated in the best of all possible worlds the drain pipe (and vertical line in the stucco) wouldn't have been there. The car window effects detract rather than add, to me. In addition to the bright spots that pull the eye from the subject there is also a blurring of detail in the chain area that I suspect comes from the window. This shot has so much potential that I think I'd try to do some editing (clone out the distractions, sharpen the blurs).

love the foggyness of this photo. It makes it seem some what old fashion.

I'm getting more into soft images and this is a good one. At the moment, I have a splitting head ache and this is one of the few pictures that feels calm looking.

A "David Hamilton" bicycle? ;-)
I like the soft focus which gives those lovely misty soft colours...

Well seen & nice catch!

Nice picture, love the softness of the tones. However, what is that mess in the top right corner? I'm guessing that's reflection from the window. For me it ruins an otherwise splendid picture.

edit - in hindsight, i feel that this deserves a medium smiley (instead of an unimpressed one) for it's merits

One problem with photo sites like TrekEarth is that we see so many good pictures that we become jaded and start looking only at the spectacular, the dynamic, the dramatic. We start picking out the images that grab our attention.

But simple, quiet images like this one are good too.

simple and pretty photo.
