The classic view of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (5596m. alt.) from Black Dragon Pool in autumn. The altitude of Lijiang itself is about 2400m. The reflection is interrupted by the ripples made by a carp (or is it the black dragon??) I do not remember the name of the bridge or the temple, probably "Riding the Dragon's Back bridge" and the "Temple of the Golden Dragon". The green hillside at right however is Elephant Hill. Smoking the locally grown herbs does not always make one see dragons. I'm getting silly here, anyway I'm adding a view of the pond from above to WS to show that the bridge is actually not connected to the padoga. Lijiang is a relaxing and somewhat artificially restored city with no air pollution yet, considering it is surrounded by mountains. "No air pollution" and "relaxing" are words that I would not normally use to describe sightseeing in China.

Bonjour Tan,
Superbe composition. Les couleurs, la lumière le contraste apportent à cette image tout les atouts pour nous éblouir. Félicitations.

I´ve started to learn Chinese, and this photo encourage me to study. I want to visit this place. More natural sky, I like it. Splendid one Tan, have I ever tell you I visited Izmir once? It was long ago. Take care.

Fantastic clear landscape, with a well found PoV to catch the characterstic building in the middleground.

Hello, Tan!
This is really wonderful landscape, like from a fairy tale! Pretty colors of autumn and reflection in the water. I like the majestic peak in the background, too. Good sharpness and fantastic saturation of colors. Fine work!
regards,
Greg

Hi Tan
Très bel endroit, avec une magnifique lumière. Les reflets dans l'au me font penser a une peinture impressionniste
Very nice shot

Hi Tan;

Another great shot from your portfolio. Nice range in colors in the trees, and the composition is very appealing as well. Looks like this should be on a postcard!

Cheers,

Beautiful postcard shot, Tan. I like the sharpness you managed to get all over the scenery and the very harmonious composition altogether. Looks like a very tranquil and remote place but then when I look at the picture taken from above it's another story. THank you for sharing.
Catherine

So beautiful view, Tan. Nice composition and reflection.

Hi Tan

You had better weather than I did. It started raining when I was there in Jan 2002. I have uploaded a shot of this over on TL.

http://www.treklens.com/gallery/Asia/China/photo71130.htm

Superb color & reflections. It's actually called 'Black Dragon Pool' & the mountain is 'Jade Dragon Snow Mountain'. Good work!

Hello Tan...a wonderful, enchanting image again!! Classical China...really beautiful! Well done, Léonie

Niiha captain !
So lovely ! You always have the faculty to find the PoV that DGSR ("dechire grave sa race", a Zepiesque expression well adapted to this situation...), adding he wonderful light to the majestuous scenery where I can not decide whether the foreground traditional archi or the background mountain is the most attractive element results in one more fine photo from you !
Have a nice sunday,
Jean-Yves

I like your shot, good reflection and a ver sharp photo, with a nice colours and a little reflection in the water, very nice job Tan.

If it weren't for the pagoda you'd think you were in the Alps. Superb color and clarity; reflection was also well-catpured. This would make a great travel poster.

Hi Tan,
A well composed and colourful portrayal of this scenic spot. The hues and sheen of the water are very special, as are the reflections. What a superb POV, with the glorious mountains in perfect focus as a backdrop. This scene very much resembles a painting. A classic photo of a classic scene. A keeper.
John

Hi Tan,
Great shot and lovely colors. I really loved this town, and you are very lucky to have been there for good weather. When I was there I couldn't see anything past the pagodo because it was too cloudy and rainy. So I missed this opportunity for the classic shot. Thanks for sharing this with us, it's a beautiful shot.
I'm not completly happy with the composition though. Because the reflextion isn't completly clear, it seems like there is just alot of empty water. I posted a workshop just for an idea.

Magnifique paysage.

Hi Tan, wow no mistaking where we are in this shot is there? For me the keeping the peak in the distance really works. Of course the reflections are great. I do like the depth a lot. Great shot Tan!

Hi Tan
Spectacular scenery. The perfect reflection, the beautiful pagoda and the majestic mountain restling at the back. Great composition, Tan.
But the use of polariser have "darken" the image totally. And I believe, without the polariser, the image will give a better and crispy look.

Hi Tan,
maybe it's a classic view but I must admit that I never saw it.
A nice place with lovely colors.
A very peaceful palce, well done

Hello Tan, indeed a classical view. But the beuatiful autumn colours in your picture make it quite different from others that I have seen (including mine...). Thanks for sharing this view: China at its best!

very good capture of this beautiful and peacefull construction. It's a piece of art (the construction as well as your picture). China must be a magnificent country to visit.

Wow, what a great landscape. I have seen some other pictures from this place, but none with such great composition and beautiful colors. Very nice reflections from the big mountain on the background. Great!!!

Hi Tan, excellent shot, as every time.
fantastic colors, a perfect POV, amazin composition and great colorful reflection in the lake!
a fantastic landscape perfectly captured.
thanks, ciao

This is a scene that has been photographed a million times, but you have executed it perfectly, Tan - composition, exposure, DOF - everything is just right. And you are so right about 'no air pollution' and 'relaxing' being two words that you don't normally assocaie with China. There are so many fabulous places to see in China, but traveling there is such a hassle that it's best to do it in small doses. Cheers . . . David

Excellent view, technically perfect, as usual. You managed to isolate very convincingly this piece of pristine landscape from the rest of the city, giving the impression of an isolated monastery in the mountains. The peak in the back is the little extra that makes a good image outstanding.

Hi Tan
Very pretty colours that come out well in the reflection too. Quite dynamic with the mountain behind. Your WS shows how surprising places are. I wouldn't have thought this place built up at all.
Regards Nikki

I really love the amazing reflections! It is a very good composition and everything's seems to be so " clear" and without pollution! Superb!

C'est cette version ma préférée. J'aime bien le WS qui nous montre l'environnement de ce monument. La photo est superbe et sans défaut, un modèle du genre. Bravo !

Hello,
Everything has been said already. Composition is great, as the POV, the colours, the sharpness, depth of field ....
Best regards

Hi Tan!
A lovely place. Details are fantastic, the mountain in the back stands gracefully overlooking the area. Reflexion justifies the division into half.
I like that.
