Koala Twin Towers Photo

Photographer’s Note

One of the most beloved pieces of modern architecture in Hong Kong is the Lippo Centre, affectionately known as the Koala Buildings.

They earn that name from the way the interlocking four-pronged sections of the building seem to cling to the sides of the main tower shaft in much the same way a koala clings to the trunk of a eucalyptus tree.

This is appropriate because the skyscrapers were commissioned by an Australian company.

I have seen many photos of this building - and tried a few myself - but this has to be the best presentation so far, Andre.
I like the tropical feel that you have given it - minimizing the urban surroundings. Excellent POV. Well seen.

Voila des towers que je neglige toujours a HK, fascine que je suis par la Bank of China et sont cote malefiquement mordoresque...
Dommage car elles valent bien un ou deux avions (n'est ce pas Mr Ben Laden...) et tu as trouve un superbe PoV pour les mettre en valeur grace a la verdure et au peu de buildings environnants, bien vu.

What a great view of the Lippo Centre! I had to rub my eyes a bit and verify that this was indeed the place in Hong Kong I thought it to be. This unusual angle puts it in a new perspective, it resembles more a building out of a Chris Foss sci-fi painting towering above a peaceful oasis, rather than the steel and glass monster we are used to see in the middle of all the concrete. I was a bit distracted by the brown building on the righthand edge and made a simple crop workshop to remove it.

Great architecture shot! Perfect in any way. These towers are incredible. My wife has been in China last month and brought me a book from Shanghai. Impressive architecture the Chinese are crafting these days. Great pov here, with the water pond giving a lot of life to this scene. Very nice!

Belles contrastes entre les grattes-cieux et la verdure.

Great detailed photo. Really good composition and color also. The workshop by grantcorp really doesn't make it any better in my opinion. Truthfully, I had to read the note to even notice what he did. It's all opinion. Nice work.
