Photographer’s Note
Victoria Harbour
With an history of over a century, the Star Ferry is a witness of many changes that have taken place in Hong Kong over the years. As both a vehicle and a tourist attraction, it is an icone of Hong Kong.
The 12 double-deck ferries have the word "star" in their names, such as Night Star, Morning Star, Gold Star, and Heaven Star. No Star Wars.

hello André,
nice composition ,the "antic" ferry going to the city's modern skyline , the whole scene bathing in an "end-of-the-world" light.
au revoir

Wow, classic shot! I really like that golden tone, and the sun really makes the shot work, in my opinion. I also like how you really filled the frame with the ferry, but still show the towers of the city in the background. Superb!

Très belle photo aux couleurs formidables. Tu as utilisé un filtre, non?

Hello Andre, great toasted color, sharpnes of the sun, how can you get that sun? without its rays?
Nice frame, title and note as well.

Great mood my friend, really nice with some pp work i presume? Whatever you did, it's the end result that counts and i have to admit i like these kind of images a lot. Really nice atmosphere with the old boat and the skyline in the back.
A very warm and pleasure photo to look at...very nice.
Have a nice weekend, Henk

A bientôt

Amazing photo, not only for the colours of the sunset, but also the composition, and the historical value as well.
I think I heard that they want to suspend the Star Ferry, is that true?
The light management is great. You kept detail of the ferry even with the sun in front of you!
Good job

An excellent portrait of that venerable ferry, so useful for the people there and so interesting and entertaining for the visitors, the POV is superb, the sharpness too, the colours a bit idealized, but why not ?
Bravo,

Too many sunsets?...forum posts, discussions between members, statements on intro pages...
Maybe it should be too many sunsets composed really badly. This one is a perfect argument to all those saying too many sunsets. Perfect golden sunsetting color. Flawless composition and perfectly placed sun, ferry and HK background. A great focal point in the "star". Really good looking and complimentary framing.
I don't know Andre. You say (or said) your just a beginner but your photos suggest anything but. Maybe you were a couple months ago, but this, along with most of your others, are good enough to make any professional jealous. Honestly, I may even go as far as to say that you are one of the premier photographers on this site. Your photos never dissapoint. I may not like the subject, but that doesn't mean it's not great.
As for the sunset thing - here is a post I put on two other shots about the subject:
"Today I saw a photo posted on the site named "cheesykitchy" or something to that effect. I came back to comment on it and I think it was deleted by the poster. Unfortunately I don't know who the poster was but so I figured I would post the comment here and hope he / she sees it -
Yes, another cheesy sunset shot. Done very well though. One of the better sunset shots I've seen posted. Great color and composition. A great sunset with a good focal point in the pier in the background. Great POV and depth with the ocean coming along the whole right side. As for the title and note, well, fortunately, or unfortunately for some, sunrises and sunsets are a part of life. Photography is all about lighting and these times during the day provide, arguably, the best lighting for photography.
I've seen alot of comments on the site saying how the particular member is tired of seeing endless sunset shots. I have a feeling this is the reason for the title. I have also seen alot of comments how members think that portraits shouldn't be allowed on the site either...
In my opinion, you than have TrekLandscape, not TrekEarth. Sunsets are a part of life, people are a part of life. Get rid of them and you have an endless stream of photos with blue sky with mountains in the background and greenery in the foreground. People are a part of life. For some, travel is about the cultural experience, and not the landscape. Without these two, I think this site would get really boring, really quick. On the same thought, this site without landscapes would get really boring, really quick. It's all the different elements, when put together, that I think makes this site so great and holds it's interest for so many people for so long. A total and whole story of the country, people, landscape, lighting, architecture and yes, sunsets to name a few types of photos.
So, it was a really great photo. I just think you let too many people influence the title of it. If you like it than that's all that counts."

Excellent capture of the Meridian Star with that big star we call the sun in the background. The composition is so good here. I love the angle of the boat, and I like the city on the left, and the distant boat on the right. The monochromatic color scheme is great. I love how you really brought out the orange of the setting sun. Did you use a sunset filter, or did you apply an orange filter in Photoshop? The result was awesome.
Regards,
Ryan

LOL!
No Junkie Star, Drag Star or Pee-wee Star either?
But Orangestar is your photo Andre.
And POVstar i must add.
Btw: Were you flying behind the ship, or only sailing on another one?
Cheers & keep cool,

Your Barbie hour shots are surely great but this amazing golden treat isn't by no means a weaker brother. Really impressed with your PP for Rescue... :) The tones are marvelous and your composition really shines like a star. The diagonal made by the boat is so dynamic, so good. It's nice to see HK skyline on the back. It makes a deal of a difference. Great photo.
