watchtowers of Danba...
 |
|
| [Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe |
Danba, Sichuan is renowned for it's classical block watchtowers which were more a symbol of status than a means for reconnaissance. The traditional inhabitants of this region, the Gyarong Tibetans, are said to descend from the Xixia kingdom. During the Qing dynasty in the seventeenth century, the towers did serve as defensive bastions. Most date from 200 to 1,000 years ago.

Hello Caleb ,
This is a very interesting architecture , and a beautiful landscape , too . I like a lot the nice light on the low part of the picture , and the contrast with the mountain in the mist in the back ground .
Regards
Denis

Another beautiful composition with such sublime colours and tones and a superb view. great composition indeed with a gerat pov
Good placement of the imposing tower dominating the image. The dark background is may be even more impressive than the colorful and sunny foreground, though.

Hi Caleb,
A fine vertical perspective here with the composition perfect in my humble opinion. I also think the light is just right and the deep rich colors very compelling. TFS. Gerald
Nice vertical framing to catch the grey silhouette of the mountain in the background. The tower with the little flags in the foreground, emerging from the green, is very pleasant, but modernity is already here with the satellite dishes.
All the best,
Emmanuel

A beautiful place, perfectly composed, with the huge dark moutain in the background. The filter makes the light soft and really cool. The contrast between the green and sunny valley and the dark moutain is excellent.
Great job.
