View of an at least 1000 years old temple inside Bandhavgarh national forest, India. 'Bandhav' means brother, and 'Garh' means fort. Legend has it that Rama (of the great Indian epic Ramayana) gifted his brother Lakshmana a fort built in this forest while returning after defeating Ravana.
There are 2000 year old staues (of Gods), buildings etc inside this forest. Even in the British period there were Kings living near this areas, who enjoyed hunting tigers. Killing 109 tigers was considered to be auspicious, and many kings got close to this mark!!
This is a Rama temple. A priest still lives here, in the midst of the forest containing the largest density of tigers in India.
Hope you likr it. |
