Pisan Hari Jain Temples or Pisan Hari ka Mandir is a major tourist attraction in Jabalpur. It is heard that a poor lady constructed the temple by grinding grain with a millstone. The word 'pisan' means grinding. Symbolic of dedication and service of a poor woman who initiated this unique and impressive cluster of Jain Temples on this hill near Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College. About 7 km from Jabalpur, these temples are believed to be nearly 150 years old. It is believed that the temples got their name from a simple woman who started them with money earned from milling flour.
The temple here is a newly constructed one below the hills. I have not gone above the hills to see the older ones. :( |
