[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
This picture was taken inside one of the latticed windows of Jehangir Mahal, Orchha's most admired palace.

The Jehangir Mahal Palace was built by Raja Bir Singh Ju Deo in early 17th century to commemorate the visit of Emperor Jehangir to Orchha. Three storeys of elegant hanging balconies, terraces, apartments and onion domes are piled around a central courtyard. From the highest balcony & the chhatri, through the beautiful & varied stone lattice-work windows (an example of a vivid combination of Hindu & Muslim architecture), one can get breath-taking views of entire Orchha.

Through this half broken lattice, we can see almost all the landmarks of Orchha, which are located within a radius of a couple of Kms. Just outside the window are the small chhatris on the roof top of Raja Mahal (built between 1554 and 1591), leading our view to the conical shikharas (spires) which crown the sanctuary of the mighty Chaturbhuj Temple. Bold in concept and as enormous as any European cathedral, Chaturbhuj Temple was constructed between the years 1558 and 1573 by Raja Madhukar. While earlier temples had fairly small enclosures, the Chaturbhuj Temple has a huge cross-shaped congregation hall.

Through the latticed windows, right of centre, we can see the white domes of the Ram Raja Temple, which was once a palace & then converted into a temple, & is the only place where Rama is worshipped not as God, but as King. Finally in the far distance (seen from the second from right column, third from bottom lattice window), partly hidden, is another marvelous structure of Orchha, the Lakshminarayan Temple.

I did try taking a lot of photographs of the Chaturbhuj Temple (like this), framed through the latticed windows of Jehangir Mahal. One such shot is posted in the Workshop.

That's a good idea, Angshu, original framing with this pretty window to get that view of the architecture gems back there. I find the small chatris particularly attractive. TFS, Daniel

Hi Angshu
Excellent idea and perfectly realized with that POV through these sharp latticed window silhouette, adding context and graphism, and a similarly razor sharp BG town and its great architectural details.
Colrs are very nice too
Greetings

Hey Anghsu, thats close! coz even I have posted a framed one today. I love your use of colours and textures and the way you look at archtectur. great work indeed.

The original looks better than the thumbnail. Very good sharpness for the palace, and the lattice in backlight is very contrasted with a very deep black.

All the best,

Emmanuel

Nice ideas and beautiful framing. Very nice composition and superb details. I like the structure of the wall. Well done.
Best wishes,
Achim

Hi Angshuman

Fantastic graphism, of the fg lattice window, with superb colour & sharpness. It nicely frames the bg scene. Tfs!

Olá Angshu, I'm enjoying a lot your artistic vein. Good thing that you found this broken lattice since it makes a wonderful framing to the marvellous architecture and it was, I'm sure, easier to capture than the one in WS. The latticed pattern makes a very appealing FG and you took well advantage of that. Excellent presentation.
Best regards,
ricardo

Hi Anghsu,

Colors and the details,
taking us into the history,
A master example for the POV.

Congrats

Hi Angshuman,
This setting taking advantage of the magnificent graphism of the silhouettes of this latticed window, to create a frame to the landscape of the city and to the blue sky, it works perfectly and offers us a very attractive image at sight.
Strong cross-light is very well managed.
A great work, well seen and well done.
Friendly regards,
Josep

Hi Angshu,
I like your composition with the view trough frame of the the window. Like the imagination of the old classical indian architecture.
Have a nice week,
Nino.

Hi Angshu.
Cette photo est remarquable avec le graphisme des décorations de la fenêtre en contre-jour et la vue du temple sous la lumière.
Une photo originale qui a beaucoup de charme.

hello Angshuman,
this is very, very good, I like a lot yur creative approach that shows both the intricate details of the building as well as wider view of the place. and I definitely prefer this photo to the one in WS, I think WS photo does not have the element of "natural frame" as pronounced as here, and I think that is the element that makes this photo so strong. excellent work, my compliments.

with best regards,
Kristine

This frame is working very well here. It's dark but it's not a problem here. And it enhances the Orchha mood. The realization is very well managed. Good inspiration.
Stéphane
PS : And I discover the WS after the writing the critique. Impressive and even more interesting than the main post. Usually that kind of idea is a little dissapointing, but here it's simply effective. It was worth "main posting" that version.

Cher ami Anghsu,
Philippe

The frame carries viewers eyes towards the subject as it gives a sense of peering through a broken lattice. I like it too in silhouette. Excellent.

Albert

Hi Angshuman,
An original framing concept ... well seen and captured. The framing itself is interesting ... it creates a nice mystic atmosphere to compliment the ancient temple. Well written and interesting notes. Wonderfully captured and composed! tfs

Well thought out image .. just the perfect amount of darkness I think. Beautiful and thoughtful. take care, John

Hi Angshuman,

The subject is well framed using the latticed windows. The point of view allows us to see the landmarks of Orchha. The photo is clear and sharp. The light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice dya.

Hi Angshuman,
This is why we say photography is art. The addition of the decorative pattern to this scene literally confirmed this. The paper cut effect greatly lift the beauty of this scene and allowed me to admire what is outside. A smart choice!!!

Regards and all the best.

Olá Angshu

Ficou muito interessante este enquadramento que chama a atenção pela sua composição curiosa e marcante. Ótimas cores. Parabéns!
