| My train arrived on a hot morning in Puri at 3:30 am. An auto-rickshaw driver ran to my window signaling me he wanted to give me a ride. He wanted a fortune in money, and he was extremely drunk. He chased me down the train platform, yelling, trying to punch me. His fellow drivers, finally grabbed him. I escaped. An old man came by in the nick of time, slowly pedaling a bike rickshaw. I paid a much better price, and went off into the pitch black of night to find a hotel. Rickshaw drivers often were very predatory in some places, fighting with each other for a fare, especially at night. Days later he waited to take me somewhere,and asked if I remembered him. |

It is something that bothers me.
Oriyas are normally peace loving. Poor guy might be in a hurry to get a passenger. But being drunk on duty and forcing the passenger against her will is defintely a mistake.
No,I am not defending him. If at all I have to defend, it is you. Simply because you were a guest and we should be careful on how to welcome and receive a guest.Railway station, bus terminuses always gives a first impression. You had a bad one.
People of all types live in this world.So it would be wise to be a little protective while travelling alone.
Hope your Puri trip was otherwise enjoyble.
