[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
This portrait is from my trek to the Talang Pass region in Himalayas. This was shot in a small village called Andhla in the house of a weaver. This woman, probably the old weaver's daughter-in-law was knitting a sweater inside a room. Unlike many other parts of India, I found Himachali women have no hang-ups about being photographed. Although it was pretty dark all around except for light coming through the doorway behind me and one solitary window, I liked her bright coloured dress which went well with dark interiors of the room. Some cluttered disturbances in the BG were removed through burn tool.

Hello Sabyasachi,
You have captured this with wonderful precision I would say. Used the minimum light with maximum effect! Perfect! Colours are very rich and saturated!
Best regards
Sayan

WOW!! The new star of TE at work again. Top shot this, intelligent light management. Though there are grains on her face, it somehow brings out the best out of this capture. You are making India proud being its best representative by far on TE. I had to add u 2 my favs!
Cheers
Sunil

hi sabyasachi

well done again

Hi Sabyaschi,
Thanks God, you have started coming to natural portraits.
ha ha ha
Well the portrait king of India, the colors are warm and her eyes expressive.
Your framing is oustanding dear.
Regards,
Rajeev

Hi Sabyasachi,
You've displayed excellent control of light here. The black background makes a perfect contrast with the red clothing of the woman.
Now I'm being really picky here, and a little unfair to your subject in this shot, but I just think the shot would have been better if she had kept her mouth closed. I just find her teeth a bit distracting. Sorry to be so pedantic, but its something that jumped out at me straight away.
Otherwise, I think this is really excellent. I don't know where you learnt such masterful control over lighting, its extraordinary.
Ben

Hi Sabyasachi,
This portrait of the woman is wonderful. It has so alive and natural colors, and a tenuous light with many shades, that they give a a little mysterious and very beautiful aspect him.
It is an excellent photo, I like much.
Greetings from Barcelona,
Josep

Hello Sabyasachi,

Well done,

Vivek

Hello Sabyasachi,
Thank you for your kind comments on my photo. Looking at your gallery I am spoilt for choice. The portraits you have captured are exceptional, they have real atmosphere and capture very natural expressions in your subject. I'm not good at photographing people, so really appreciate the quality of your work. I've chosen to comment on this picture as I like the mysterious air with the very black background and the women in her brightly coloured and ornate clothing is perfectly positioned.
Excellent work
Peter

What a beauty coming out of the darkness! And I like her attitude, the way she take her dress with the hand. Bravo!!
Livia

Hi Sabtasachi,
A great portrait... even if her face is in the shade!
The lighting mostly from the back putting emphasis on her dress but still my eyes are drawn to the face...
Well composed and with strong colours!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Fantastic! The colour, the light, the expression, the subject, everything is perfect.

Ce rouge et ce vert sont un vrai plaisir

Hi Sabyasachi
Great capture. I like the contrast between the red dress and the dark background. Interesting expression on the woman`s face.
Regards

Hi Sabyasachi,

A very nice capture. The darkness, the color of the saree, the smile are all in perfect harmony. I agree, womenfolk in Himachal has no qualms about being photographed. Thanks to the advent of tourism in that part of the world.

Sincere regards,
Hirak

Exelent portrait Sabyasachi.
I enjoy a lot the original light and the black background. How do you do this?
This interesting to see the custom of this people... she looks a lot to one of the women i know in a rural comunity in mexico.

Well done.
Best regards.

Hello Sabyasachi,

The fact that you use the light like this seems to be the signature of great photographers. I appreciate very much how you lighten the girl's face with only reflected light while we can see the effects of direct light on her saree.

The black background enhances the dramatic effect, and on the top of it the girl is beautiful.

A prize winner for sure - Izzet

My favourite portraits ever on TE: the Indonesian ones of simplyoga (Yoga Raharja) and Indian ones of sabyasachi1212 (Sabiasachi Talukdar). You guys are such an inspiration!

Hi Sabyasachi,

An other beautiful portrait from you. I like the red colour of her dress - looks great on the dark background. The way she holds the scarf is a great detail.

I would love to know your PP workflow - would you share it?

:) Tina

HI , again , Sabyasachi !
I have to give a tribute to this photo too . Again you use the black background to enhance the portrait and the bright colours !
Perfect lighting too .
I will try to learn from your composition and technique - as well as I simply enjoy your portraits very much !!
Greetings
Dorte.
