| Fire for the gods, lights each night, on the ghats in Varanasi. Ghats are stairs leading to the most holy of all rivers, for Hindus. They contain round or square stone platforms to burn the dead on. Only two locations are used in modern times for cremations. Prayers can be anywhere. This is on Assi ghat. |
