Photographer's Note

These peaks form the Kalpeshwar-Alakananda watershed. Rising to over 6000 meters, these small peaks are less well-known in the region, due to the spectacular Neelkanth and Chaukhamba rising nearby. They are mostly unnamed and unclimbed.

The small glaciers seen in this photo are hanging on a high slope - and melt to form tributary streams to the Kalpa Ganga torrent. Often, large chunks of ice fall over a kilometer vertically down these slopes, reverberating the uninhabited valley beneath with loud noises.

I took this photograph after one of those frequent hailstorms - revealing clouds and peaks in the distance. It might be a bit noisy due to the processing...
