A mission complete..

"Pride of conqueror smiles
Blood stained swords swish
Troops vanish in horizon
A joy of battle in eyes.
Symphony of age in him
Screams time victorious
Visions that led life
Versions of strong heart
Spilled light to his feet
Sun kissed him glory
Faded the young smiling
Stayed the soul in will
Voices danced in pains
Eyes language of love
Deep in him lays divine
Secret of life, his soul
Windows of his eyes lifts
Burning heat, sun his love
Drips down his heart once
Singing symphony of age.. !!"

Hi Jean,
so much expression in this face. Your B&W approach is the best for the difficult light conditions and most of the face in the shadow. Good one !

Namaste Jean Paul. One of the best portraits I have seen and not just on TE. Such forceful work, such strength of character coming through. The chiseled face, the white hair, the fisherman's hat made from bamboo, the coarse cloth around his shoulders are all a backdrop for that clear, almost visionary glance. The use of light is superb Jean Paul. My sincere congratulations. This is a real treasure.Regards. Klaudio.

Hi, I do love the your way of composing and framing.. I am very much delighted to see this photograph .. The angle is great and the expression and the features of the old are very special.. Even the vision of him that stares along the vast horizon is impressive.. Thanks a lot for sharing friend, keep clicking~~

Hello, Poet JP,
It's a very nice shot in B/W of a man whose stare at the horizon was the same when he was younger but when priorities were different.
The light on the face in his eyes imply his inner strength to endure all hardships of his fisherman's existence.
A portrait with a soul!!!!!!!!!!!
I love it!
Congratulations from my heart for the portrait and the well chosen poem to dedicate to him.
Bravissimo!

Hello Jean-Paul,

A remarkable image with old man, the gray board and the great hat make of the image a great portrait.
I find themself that the white side something the much clarity give as against the dark side against the ear.
I see that the ligh very difficult must be, this make the photographer very difficult.
Well done, TFS.

Superb portrait, Jean Paul. The dreaming mood is so strong on his face and this is so well presented in b/w. I'm impressed with this image and the note is very suggestive, as usual. Congratulations.

Namaste Jean Paul,
An impressive and expressive portrait, reminding one of those classics from 50 or more years. The flawless light management of the shadows allows us to appreciate the texture of the hardened skin, a kind of lively reminding of the vast experience of life he must have. I guess that some "perfectionists" can complain about the over-exp on the face, but I see no way to avoid it.
Regards, José.

Hi Jean. A beautiful portrait shot in B/W. The wrinkled and weathered face seems to quote 'Our sweetest songs are those that tell of our saddest thoughts'. A real symphony of age perfectly etched by you, my dear. Great. Regards.

Hi Jean Paul,

Hi, JP -

An amazing character study, and B&W is the perfect choice. The left ear is a bit too much in shadow, though; I think it unbalances the image. But it only needs the smallest bit of lightening.

hello jean

it's a fantastic shot! true symphony of age in his face and you and your camera have done an excellent job showing it to us. interesting: how lively and fiery are the eyes of the man; despite the age. beautiful, my friend!

with warm regards,
kristaps

ps. i cannot help the feeling that cropping off some from the top and the right would make the shot even stronger, by bringing his eyes closer to us...

Man that is a very nice shot of this guy. Its even dramatic with the BW. A very sharp photo. Well done. Sothy

Jean,
a great portrait. I actually don't have anything to add to all the critiques that you got so far, but I still want to say how much I appreciate the angle that you took here. The low POV with the diagonal line giving the impression that you placed the face in the right upper corner is just great.
